Ingredients recipe
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin
1/4 cup caster sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoons finely grated ginger
1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
800g beef rump steak
1 tablespoon Alfa One rice bran oil
Cooked sushi rice and thinly sliced green onion, to serve
Method of recipe
1.Place soy sauce, mirin, sugar, honey, sesame oil, ginger and garlic in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool to room temperature.
2.Pour soy sauce mixture into a large, shallow ceramic dish. Add steak. Turn to coat. Cover. Refrigerate for 3 hours.
3.Drain beef, reserving marinade. Heat rice bran oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook steak for 3 to 4 minutes each side (for medium) or until cooked to your liking. Transfer steak to a plate. Cover loosely with foil. Set aside for 5 minutes to rest. Add reserved marinade to pan. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for 2 to 3 minutes or until reduced slightly.
4.Thinly slice steak. Serve with rice, green onion and drizzled with sauce.
